An industry script evaluation (also known as “Coverage”) is a standard practice for major studio, production company, and producers. Script readers make an evaluation and pas it along to producers. If a script has a high evaluation, a producer will read that script immediately.
In an evaluation, a script reader ranks the writer’s story, execution, writing quality, and market potential on a scale from 1 to 10. Scripts with 10s get fast tracked to producers. This evaluation will also feature a logline, a synopsis, and an additional page or two of comments about what the script does right, wrong, and could potentially be.
What you can do with this evaluation is see an industry perspective of how they see your script. Seeing how people who make films see you script is a strong tool on how to strengthen your script’s writing quality, story, and shoot-ability.
